A project with World Vision Canada where I travelled to Bangladesh with their leadership team and documented stories on child labour for the #NoChildForSale campaign.
Portraits you view here are from communities that World Vision is involved in throughout Bangladesh. It was heartbreaking witnessing children in their most vulnerable years working in terrible conditions while getting paid less than a dollar a day. Most of the products the children produce are sold in North America with us being the consumers leading to this vicious cycle.
After putting a face to these stories and knowing these people who can use our support, I was encouraged to take action and speak up about my experience. By refusing to support brands who are not transparent about their manufacturing process, we may be giving a child a chance to go to school and a chance at a better life.
The original essay from the campaign was featured by the Wordpress team leading to great support from the online community. The updated essay can be found in my journal here.
